POLK CITY, Fla. USA Water Ski today named Jamie Beauchesne (Loudon, N.H.) its Male Athlete of the Month for May. Beauchesne will now be considered for the United States Olympic Committee’s Athletes of the Month honors.
"Several U.S. athletes had strong showings at the 45th annual Chevrolet Masters and the Rolex Junior Masters in May,” said Steve McDermeit, USA Water Ski’s executive director. ”However, Jamie Beauchesne and Danyelle Bennett gave exceptional performances worthy of Athlete of the Month honors."
Beauchesne, 27, a two-time U.S. Open champion, won his first career Masters’ title at the 45th Chevrolet Masters, May 29-30, in Pine Mountain¸ Ga. Beauchesne captured the Men’s slalom title in thrilling fashion after running 2 buoys at 41 feet off in a runoff with fellow U.S. athlete Chris Parrish. After tying in the finals, Beauchesne skied another run of 2 buoys at 41 feet off while Parrish managed just 1-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 off.
